Create balance in your life in your own best way, in the way that makes the most sense for you. Rather than strive to be like someone else whom you might admire, find your own way to a balanced lifestyle that will work for you. In your search for balance, get to know yourself really well so that you can avoid your usual pitfalls and steer clear of bad habits. Change yourself in positive, beneficial ways. Change is always possible. And though it may be a challenge to get going in a new direction, the rewards will be tremendous.

Take full responsibility for the self, for what you think, say and do, for how you choose to act in the world and how you take care of yourself. No one else can take care of you, guide you or show you the correct path if you have not done work on yourself and are prepared to take over your life. Childhood is a time of structure and guidance to teach you how to take over in adulthood. Some children are neglected or abused and not well supported while others are showered with gifts. Your beginning matters only in what you do with it. Either it catapults you or stagnates you, but even that is up to you. Do you see the glory in every deed done for and against you, and the grand opportunity being offered to take over your own growth and progress? Ah, life! Isn’t it grand?

Spend a little time in nature. Take a walk in the woods, put a foot in a stream or lake, glance at the sky. Too many people never look up and thus they miss the perspective of the vastness of life on Earth. They don’t get to experience the sense of oneness that the sky offers, the same sky that everyone sees. In the daytime, the clouds float by like memories from around the world and at night the stars speak of the vast unknown that everyone wonders about. Let nature show you that you are not so different from everyone else, that indeed there is a sense of oneness to it all.

Be dependable. Be someone to trust, share and be safe with. If people know they can depend on you they also know that you can be trusted with even their deepest secrets and experiences. But to become dependable you have to first learn to trust yourself, to become for yourself a trustworthy being. Do you show up for yourself when most needed? Do you hold yourself responsible for your choices and actions? Do you trust yourself to hold sacred your most important issues and to work with them until they are resolved in a fruitful manner? To be dependable is to be selfless in a loving way without losing yourself in the problems of others. In this manner you learn that you can also count on yourself to maintain your energy for what is really needed.

Like a rooted tree stand firmly attached even though your branches reach outward to embrace all that is. To be human is a privilege, with the opportunity to live among so much beauty and pain, so much love and despair, so much delight and intensity, the opposites that make life a divine privilege. Make the most of your experiences and make your time there of the utmost importance, for you and your life, in the great turmoil of it all, matter immensely.
