Underneath all the hoopla that is going on in the world lies a pattern that must play out, the great unfolding of the next phase of human existence. It’s not unusual to be frightened by what is unfolding every day in the world. It’s not unusual to wonder what will happen. But it is far better to focus on what can be done today to help move the world in a more positive, loving direction. It’s never too late to step up to a change of mind, of thinking, of attitude, and to align with a more positive direction. If everyone were on that same positive trajectory the world would surely transform a lot quicker.

No Blame. It’s nobody’s fault. You might ask: How did we get here? But maybe that’s not the right question. Maybe the right question is: Where are we going? The openness of that question takes blame away, takes fear away, takes feelings of sadness and sorrow away. For wondering where we are going opens a window to wonder, to anticipation, to adventure. Look forward to something new now. Something unexpected. Something unknown. Look forward to the calm after the storm, to the peace you know exists at the root of everything and everyone. Look forward to the necessary change, that even you who feel so sad know is inevitable, and so necessary. When a dam fills too high, it overflows; when a river rises beyond its banks, it floods over the riverbanks; when a pot of water reaches boiling point, it boils over. So is it with everything. When the maximum of tension has been reached there must be an opening to relieve the pressure. That is where the world is now.

Underneath it all, under the mysteries of life, under the larger questions that overshadow life, under the frustrations at not knowing for sure what life is all about, lies the Eternal Self who has all the answers. This Eternal Self is waiting for you, right now, not in the future or in some other life, but now, waiting for you to ask the right question, the one only you can ask. What is the one question you feel you want to know the answer to? What is the one thing that keeps you stuck and unable to move into the greatness that you are fully capable of becoming? What is it that holds you in its grip? The answer is waiting for you, but you have to ask the right question first. And then you have to get out of your own way and let the answer hit you over the head so that there is no doubt about it. You might find that you don’t like the answer, but deep down inside you will know that it’s exactly right. Ask the right question, get the right answer.

Life can seem overpowering at times, the stress of daily living too much to handle. But don’t let such ideas overwhelm or overpower you personally. You have all the power in the world within you to change how you feel about things. Are you taking a negative, angry attitude? Or are you ready to shift into a positive, hopeful attitude? It all depends upon you and the attitude you decide to adopt, every day of your life. When you wake up, check your mood. If it isn’t in alignment with the positive power of gratitude, you might want to shift into the gratitude track that we spoke of earlier this week. It will do wonders for you!

Each day begins the same way for everyone. You wake up. At least your body wakes up. But does your mind, does your spirit? Does your heart sing with gratitude and thanks for another beautiful day? Give today a new twist. Begin by being grateful for something in your life. And then think of another thing, and another. Pretty soon you will feel a whole lot better, a whole lot more connected to the gifts you have been given. Pretty soon you will begin to wake up with a grateful heart, mind, and spirit every day of your life. And that alone will be transformative, because gratitude is the greatest prayer there is.
