Let the world go for a few moments at a time during the day. Take your mind off it and do something nurturing for yourself, and those you love. Find moments of joy even in pain. Find something funny even in sadness. Find something to be happy for even when things feel really bad. Find some way to bring a little light into your life, even when it is very dark.

Inventors invent, artists create, the Earth births new life, animals seek food and rest. The world continues ever-evolving, no matter what comes to disrupt. Life itself will not stop just because someone tries to do something that is not appropriate. Let life itself show you how it continually devises new creations, how it reinvents and recreates itself over and over again, how it only knows how to keep on growing, changing and transforming. You live in transformative times. How that transformation will come about is unknown, but you can be ready for it by being constantly aware that change is always on the horizon, every day.

No Blame. It’s nobody’s fault. You might ask: How did we get here? But maybe that’s not the right question. Maybe the right question is: Where are we going? The openness of that question takes blame away, takes fear away, takes feelings of sadness and sorrow away. For wondering where we are going opens a window to wonder, to anticipation, to adventure. Look forward to something new now. Something unexpected. Something unknown. Look forward to the calm after the storm, to the peace you know exists at the root of everything and everyone. Look forward to the necessary change, that even you who feel so sad know is inevitable, and so necessary. When a dam fills too high, it overflows; when a river rises beyond its banks, it floods over the riverbanks; when a pot of water reaches boiling point, it boils over. So is it with everything. When the maximum of tension has been reached there must be an opening to relieve the pressure. That is where the world is now.

Everyone is responsible for their own life, for their own choices and decisions. As children you learned this. As adults you often forget this and you want to just be a child again. But no, childhood is over and adulthood is asking you to show up every day for the next big feature presentation that is in your life’s unfolding. And just as you are expected to take care of yourself, so must you let others do the same. If you take responsibility for others, past their true needs, you might think you are being responsible but you are actually interfering in their lives. Let adults learn to be the grownups that they are meant to be. The only way they can do that is by living their own lives, separate from you. Some people will fail miserably at life, but that is their fate to deal with, in this life and the next. Others will take off like rockets and become outstanding members of society. The vast majority will live adequate lives of boredom and mundanity. But the lucky few will find a connection to their own spirit early in life and they will continually grow and change throughout their lives, never looking back except to give thanks, and never afraid of what is to come, for they learned early on that to live a full life is to always live in awe.

Don’t forget to remain in awe. Look around you and be in awe of all that has thus far unfolded in your life. Be in awe of all that you have accomplished, of all the dreams you have already fulfilled. Be in awe that so much more is still possible. Be in awe of the possibility of change coming your way every day whether by intent or chance. Be in awe of your beautiful self forging into each new day with hope in your heart and kindness on your tongue. Be in awe of the world around you as you embrace life wholeheartedly.
