Jumping to conclusions rarely helps anyone. Far better to take a deep breath and then another and another. Let things settle down before you make a decision or speak your mind, or change your tune or your path in life. Let the dust settle before you take a drastic step in the wrong direction. We often encourage getting quiet and calm and doing heart-centering exercises before making any big decisions. There is a phrase that is apt for moments of challenge and change: “Look before you leap.” Really, all it means is take time to consider if the path ahead of you is truly a path of heart that is truly right for you in this moment.

Balance remains the most important key to good health on all levels of being, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Without balance the whole self is not fully present or in charge to make good decisions, or able to sustain life in an evolving manner. Taking responsibility for the self, as a full-fledged adult is perhaps the most important aspect of maintaining balance. Without balance one becomes a victim. But to override that is simply a matter of deciding that it’s your life, after all, and that you are in change of every aspect of it, within and without. When you let things slide there is no one to blame except yourself and your own decision to do so. Balance, at its best, means juggling everything that comes to you, keeping yourself aloft so that each day begins with the joyous anticipation of a job to be done well and ends with the joyous knowledge that indeed it was!

A sense of injustice breeds discontent. Discontent breeds anger. Anger breeds the need to rectify. The need to rectify breeds action that may not be beneficial in the long run. A quick decision may not be the right one. When something is wrong or disturbing, consider stepping back from the first feelings that arise in order to contemplate with a blank slate of emotion. From a place of sobriety right action may make its way forward and a peaceful solution be found.

Pause. Take time to consider what life is really presenting you with each new day. Rather than jumping to the usual conclusions take action that will further you along on your journey of change. When something unexpected is presented, rather than respond as expected in return, do what your heart expects instead. See what the outcome is when you take an unexpected turn in the direction of heart-centered decision making based on loving kindness and compassion. You might be unexpectedly surprised.

Make decisions based upon your heart’s intent, upon the desires of your spirit. Keep in mind that the heart knows what is right, that it remembers always its greater intent, even if you forget, even if you fail to uphold your end of the bargain you made with your spirit, even if you neglect it for some whim. Return always to your heart when it comes time to make a decision and simply ask it what to do. It will not fail you.

Sending you love,
