Foster kinship with nature, even if only in some small way. You need nature, most importantly in the air you breathe. Everyone breathes and shares the air equally, and air is a most important aspect of nature and human life. Think of all the creatures, human, animal, insect, amoeba that share the air of life with you. Be amazed that every particle you breathe has been passed along from one life to another, from the heavens to the Earth, from the birds in the sky to the babes in arms. Remain in awe of this most important element with every breath you take, and with gratitude thank nature and your fellow creatures for the pure ability to simply breathe.

Find your balance within the self in quiet mind, relaxed body, and calm spirit. In your own breath find the energy that will both regulate and calm you as well as energize and invigorate you. In your own breath is the mechanism by which to introduce both stimulus and relaxation. It’s your choice to use your own breath as a conscious tool to regulate your internal affairs of mind and body, to control your reactions and what you allow to interfere. To keep yourself safe from external stimuli, breathe. Calm your body. Calm your mind. Breathe.

Be your own medicine woman or medicine man and with each calm breath attain calmness within. Let the magic of calmness reign within, as natural as the air you breathe, as warmly curing as the golden sun, as fulfilling as a sip of pure water, as necessary as any food. Bring on the calm!

Strive to reconcile the difficulties within the self, the mind speak that captivates, directs, and discerns, that both discourages and encourages. All sides are part of life and yet life needs no sides, for in the flow of life all sides are equal and of equal importance. Find reconciliation in simply breathing in acceptance of all that is and breathing out all that is difficult. Let your breath remind you that you are human and spirit. Reconcile first with that and then see what happens. Just breathe.

Keep sacred the breath of life so that it may long nurture and sustain you. Use it wisely, to center and ground you but also in protest when necessary. Use it to calm and quiet you but also to rise up and conquer when it is time, for sometimes it is indeed right to be riled up and to take action. Sometimes sitting still is the best medicine and sometimes getting to your feet and doing something is the only cure. It is, however, a very fine line between the two, for balance is key to everything, and it is only long inner contemplation that will bring forth the right decision. How you choose to protest matters, so choose with care. How you sit and breathe, however, is very simple, just do it. Breathe, and as you do remember that life is in every breath and it is sacred. Choose wisely.
