To be offended is an offense in itself. Let go of such feelings in favor of just loving what is. There is no need to be offended by the thoughtless acts of others. It’s just a waste of your energy. Instead focus on yourself, on your inner needs, on those of your body and your spirit in sync with each other. If you focus wholly on the body, you will miss the messages of spirit. And if you focus wholly on the spirit, you will miss the messages of the body. Find the perfect balance that allows you to attend to both body and spirit. Try to meditate a little bit each day, even if only for a few minutes, in whatever way feels natural to you. There are no set rules that need be followed about meditation. It is just a quieting of the body and the mind so that relaxation may happen, so that centering within may happen, and so that alignment of true self with true spirit may happen. When you do this, you will soon realize that being offended is a waste of your time and energy.

Anchor more solidly within the self on a daily basis through quiet meditation, walking in nature, listening to calming music, doing things that both turn you inward and bring peace of mind and body, whatever that might mean for you. By anchoring in this way, your thoughts about the world around you will quiet down too, the outer rhetoric will lessen and the harsh reality of truth will be less invasive. But the most important aspect of quiet mind is the ability to intuit and perceive life in a new and different way. As you anchor in quiet mind, distance and perspective change, point of view shifts, and a new paradigm is revealed. In this new paradigm new awareness exists and the bigger picture emerges. Give it a try. Seek quiet mind in the best way possible for you at this time in your life, and see what happens.

Training of the mind is just as important as training of the body. To hone the mind so that calmness is easily achieved will bring not only the mind into calmness but also the body and the emotions, and it will allow the spirit within you to be more easily heard. Your spirit yearns to speak with you, to guide you and show you the way. The best way to connect is to get the thinking mind, the busy mind, out of the way. Learn simple meditation tricks to relax the body and the thinking mind so that calmness ensues, even for just a few minutes at a time. It will do you wonders and your spirit will rejoice.

Continually clear your emotional panel so that there is room within you to receive, so that resentments do not crowd your reception room, and so that your heart remains open and willing to engage in life. Old resentments fester and pollute, wreaking havoc, creating waste, discomfort and disease. Meditate upon what holds you back from your goals and find the emotions that need examination and clearing. In care of the self in this manner there is room for new growth and new life.

Take an occasional respite from all of life’s busyness. Take a walk in nature. Look at the sky, day or night. Close your eyes and listen to some soft music. Just sit quietly and breathe. There is always so much to do, and that will not change, but you can control not doing something; not worrying, not thinking, not overdoing. You have that power. Use it first to just slow down and not do anything, for 5 minutes. Take a short respite from life.
