Life has its rituals and patterns that seem to need attention, especially those attached to family and the expectations of society. But life also, in its evolutionary phase, may require the breaking away from those rituals and patterns so that individuality may be achieved. Individuality involves the evolution of the inner spirit, which may indeed involve breaking away from the constraints of society to discover its true purpose. Rituals uphold and frame life, but at a certain point it may be time to make them less important and to turn instead to what is really needed by the spirit in its intent to evolve. This may involve a period of solitary endeavor, such as recapitulation, in order to resolve old issues that hold the spirit captive. A solitary retreat, even for a few days, may hold the gold that you and your spirit seek.

A balance is created when what is inside you is no longer overpowering, in control, or dominating. When inner turmoil has lost its punch balance ensues. And how to lessen the punch? With impeccability and by fearlessly confronting what it is that overpowers, controls and dominates one’s thoughts, actions and emotions, one eventually tames the beast within. The kind of balance that ensues is one that cannot be disturbed no matter what comes to challenge. Though more often than not, once one confronts what is going on inside the self, life’s challenges simmer down too, so that what is outside the self is equally balanced and calm. With impeccability, compassion, and a determined heart, seek to calm the beasts within and attain balance without as well.

Seek balance within the self first before expecting balance to occur in the world around you. If you are not in balance how can anything else be? Your own inner state does affect the world in both small and large ways. Notice how if you are happy those around you pick up your vibe and experience some of your bliss. If you are in a bad mood that too is noticed and reacted to. This is your secret power, the ability to influence your environment and those around you. Work on keeping in balance so that you may bring harmony and beauty into the world, one small breath, one step and one day at a time.

Take full responsibility for the self, for what you think, say and do, for how you choose to act in the world and how you take care of yourself. No one else can take care of you, guide you or show you the correct path if you have not done work on yourself and are prepared to take over your life. Childhood is a time of structure and guidance to teach you how to take over in adulthood. Some children are neglected or abused and not well supported while others are showered with gifts. Your beginning matters only in what you do with it. Either it catapults you or stagnates you, but even that is up to you. Do you see the glory in every deed done for and against you, and the grand opportunity being offered to take over your own growth and progress? Ah, life! Isn’t it grand?

Be dependable. Be someone to trust, share and be safe with. If people know they can depend on you they also know that you can be trusted with even their deepest secrets and experiences. But to become dependable you have to first learn to trust yourself, to become for yourself a trustworthy being. Do you show up for yourself when most needed? Do you hold yourself responsible for your choices and actions? Do you trust yourself to hold sacred your most important issues and to work with them until they are resolved in a fruitful manner? To be dependable is to be selfless in a loving way without losing yourself in the problems of others. In this manner you learn that you can also count on yourself to maintain your energy for what is really needed.
