Stay contained within no matter what is happening without. Empty your mind so that roving thoughts do not invade your container. Keep focus on your heart center. Hold your thoughts and intentions there. Hold them firmly in your grasp like a bouquet of flowers you dare not let go of. In inner containment let your mind be still, your heart calm and loving, your intentions compassionate and kind for self and other. That is how to weather trying times, with a measure of grace and kindness, with a measure of love and compassion, intentionally, as if nothing else mattered.

Remain grounded in compassion and kindness no matter the circumstances. Being a compassionate and kind person at heart and in action remains a core issue of your unique humanness. No other creature can act in this manner. Though violence occurs, though devastation comes, though disasters happen, maintain your unique human feelings and practice loving kindness and compassion for all beings. It’s not always about what you can do but the attitude you take. Bring on the kindness and compassion!

Be kind and compassionate, especially to those you fear or dislike and to those who try you the most. Find in them something to love and something to like knowing that they too are only human, with human feelings and emotions, though they may keep them hidden and locked away. Let kindness and compassion lead you to right action. Though this may be difficult as you face those you fear or dislike or those who try you the most, remember that eventually good will and good deeds, combined with good intentions will pave the way for a better relationship. Kindness and compassion are energetic, unspoken actions, but they can certainly pack a powerful punch. So watch out! And remember, true kindness and compassion ask for nothing in return!

You can’t save another person. You may not even be able to save yourself, but you can try to get yourself into some kind of balance, some kind of workable state where you can know yourself better, know how you operate, understand your own moods better, and be accountable for your own actions and decisions. Sometimes just keeping yourself going is all you can do, the work of the self plenty of work indeed. Even as you realize you can’t save another person you can have compassion for the work they face as they too try their hardest to get themselves into balance. It’s not the luck of the draw but the intent of the individual and that comes from deep within the self, the motivation to become conscious and to evolve. And that is a lifetime’s work indeed! If you get yourself into balance then others around you naturally get into balance too. All is one, one is all!

The greatest healing comes not from without but from within. The greatest healing comes in reconciling with the self. The greatest healing comes in being honest with the self. The greatest healing comes in fully knowing the self. The greatest healing comes in being able to forgive the self. The greatest healing comes from the compassionate heart that turns to the self and says: I love you. Now that’s healing!
