When something overwhelms do not immediately feel sorry for the self or get caught off guard but ask the most important question: What does this mean? Everything is meaningful. Find the meaning in everything so that you may advance along your path, so that you may move one more step in the direction of clarity and enlightenment, so that you may begin to figure out why you exist in the life you are in. The true purpose of life is to grow and serve others in a loving way. Find the path that will lead you to your personal unfolding of this universal mission of love. Or perhaps you are already living it and just need to refine it. Live with awe, gratitude, and an open heart and all will be well.

It’s unfortunate when kindness is not practiced, when compassion is left out of human interactions, when love is given short shrift. These three things are, however, what the future must look like: kind, compassionate and loving. Things are already looking pretty bleak. Best to start practicing now. Practice kindness and compassion, and be loving in all you do and you’ll begin to notice just how important an impact you make, one life at a time, and your own will benefit as well.

An entire world can change by the good intentions and actions of one person.  Start small, first within the self and then in the world around you by applying what you learn as you do your inner work. To change the self is the first step in changing the world. And the first step in changing the self is to abandon the notion that you are special, deserving, or important. You are, however, a being who has the capacity to love, to be kind, and to be compassionate. Nurture those characteristics within the self and you will soon naturally be using them without, in the world around you. It’s never too late to change and to be the agent of change.

Let not the worries of the world intercept your search for freedom, your search for meaning, your search for connection to the divine within. You are spirit first and that is what matters most, your efforts to find your connection to that spirit so you can nurture and know it on the deepest of levels. Once you do that the worries of the world will not seem so desperate, for you will understand the balance that keeps everything in motion, the necessity for change, and how a part of the oneness of it all you really are. So stay calm and carry on the deeper search within.
