Stagnation is a normal part of any journey. It’s not unusual to get bogged down at some point, to experience inertia, to flounder and not know where to go next. In such times it is best to accept the time of stagnation as a necessary part of the journey, and to sit with it and wait for clarity to return. Without clarity there is no use in proceeding. Just wait. In the stillness of waiting clarity will eventually emerge. Once clarity returns the journey’s direction will also be clear.

Look within each day to address the needs of your inner self, the part of you that really sets the pace and determines the mood for the day. What does this part of you need today? Are you feeling outgoing, energetic and talkative? Or are you feeling in need of solitude, contemplation and quiet time? The inner you can be overridden, but oftentimes it’s better to pay attention so that the needs of that part of the self don’t begin to pile up. Unmet needs of the inner self have a tendency to accumulate,  build up and grow until they erupt in some fashion. Deal with the inner you each day the same way that you deal with the outer you. Give it time to be present, important and directive. You won’t regret it. And you might learn something new about yourself as well!

With passion, strong intentions and the right words spoken to yourself you can change anything about yourself. With firm tone and conviction there is nothing within you that will not react in some way to a command to change. Perhaps a part of you will react in the opposite, unintended direction, but that is a strong sign that you’ve been heard. Often change is wished for but not passionately. Put a little passion into your desire for change and see what happens.

Embrace some new ideas today as a new day dawns. Start off on a new foot, in a new direction, if only in your intentions. Break old patterns, if only in taking a different route. Begin something new, if only in your thinking. Let yourself off the hook for something by doing something that may benefit others. Pay something forward. Each new day offers so many new possibilities. Just a simple change in attitude may begin a whole new cycle of change.

Let old habits fall by the wayside as new doors open, as opportunities arise and as life’s changes emerge to show you a new direction. Keep a keen eye on what shows up, a keen mind on how to decipher the signs that come to guide you, and an open heart so that your path may be acceptable and without conflict. Look to nature to show you how easy it is to let things go; how old leaves drop from the trees and new ones sprout, how water in a creek flows by without a care, going its merry way, how the wind carries away fragrances and toxins alike on its stiff breezes. Turn to your own life now, even as big changes abound in the world around you, and clear the way so that each day you greet life’s unfolding with an open heart and a big yes!
