Elevate your thinking by staying out of the trenches, where ugliness goes to battle with anger and where entitlement wrestles with self-pity. Step up a rung on the ladder of purpose, where the mind may calm down and a broader perspective be found. From a higher perch things will look a lot different. This is not a place of superiority at all, just a place offering a wider view. And as is always the case with a wider, higher viewpoint, things look very different. Use this analogy to help you step out of the ordinary and into the extraordinary. It’s very helpful, especially when you don’t know what to think or believe. Stick your head above the clouds for a bit and take a deep breath of fresh air, and then open your eyes and really look, with eyes and heart of truth. You might be surprised at what you discover.

Intend today to remain calm and contained. If there is too much disagreement, don’t engage. If there is too much anger, don’t engage. If there is too much sadness, don’t engage. Engage only in that which perpetuates calmness, clarity, contentment, love and compassion. To spend the day angry does no one any good. To spend the day in peace helps everyone. Set your mind on acting with loving kindness today, with compassion but also with the expectation that others take responsibility for themselves in positive ways. You may actually have an opportunity to teach someone else how to slow down and find peace and calmness within. Don’t hesitate! Be the teacher of good that you know you are.

Circumstances are different now, as each new day is always different from the last. Yesterday is no more. Today is all that matters. Keep that in mind as you make your plans and try to figure out what to do next. If things are not clear, remember all that you have been learning and all the little practices you have accumulated to help you through whatever needs to be got through. Now is the time to actualize them so that you remain calm, centered, and grounded in the reality of the present moment. Without judgment, without guessing or gossip, without criticism, anger, sorrow or pity, please step up with all that you know of your heart’s contents, and your heart’s contentment, and your heart’s power. These are the things that are of the greatest importance in all situations in life.

All our love,
The Soul Sisters, Jan & Jeanne

Continue the practice as suggested over the past two days, the heart-centered breathing and heart-centered decision making, for it will begin to change your life. Little by little, and day by day, a heart-centered practice softens you, aligns you, opens you to that which is greater and that which is wiser. Soon you will be acting from your heart center without even noticing it. Your sense of self will shift into one of right action instantaneously; you won’t even have to second guess or question the rightness of your heart’s response to the issues that arise in life. Pretty soon you will begin to notice that you are more relaxed about things, easy going, able to go with the flow. Other people will also begin to notice change in you, this new you that you are cultivating for yourself, but also for the greater good of all. For, ultimately, that is the universal purpose of life, to be fully present for the greater good of all.

All our love,

Things change. People leave; new people arrive. Life unfolds and it seems that times of turmoil and sadness will never end. When you get into this kind of slump, turn to your inner practice. Sit quietly with your heart open, your breath calm. Put your thoughts aside and ask for the blessing of this peaceful moment to wash over you and abide with you for the rest of the day. No matter what you have on your agenda for the day you have the power to self-regulate and maintain calmness within. It’s only if you get attached to something outside of you that you will lose that special inner contact. Remain attached within, even as you encounter what brews without, and all will be well.
