Find calmness in your breath. Find peace in knowing that you have survived this long and you will survive this time of turmoil too. Find stability in knowing that you are fine, that everything will be fine. But most of all find what you need within your strong self, for you are indeed strong and that is what matters most. Your strong self, especially your strong inner self, knows that what matters most is you!

Thoughts have power. Other people’s thoughts have power. When did you stop thinking for yourself? When did you stop doing for yourself? When did you lose touch with your feelings? When did you last notice your breath and your heartbeat? When was the last time you sat and listened to the sounds of nature? When did silence lose its magic? It has been too long. It is time to return to the magic of yourself alone. Sit. Breathe. Listen. No matter where you are, enjoy the magic that is all around you. This is who you are, one silent, magical being among the rest. Be it. Practice daily. Just sitting, just being. That’s magic!

Use of strength and force are sometimes appropriate, such as when a great stone must be moved or something must be rescued. Strength and force of character, of inner resolve, and of determination to achieve something are also appropriate uses. Use of strength and force against others, against differences, against dislikes, against perceives disruptions may however be regarded as inappropriate behavior. Use strength and force for that which is good, for that which the heart says is appropriate, for the heart knows that strength and force are life-giving attributes of every heart that beats in every human being. Heart-centered strength and force keep the blood of life flowing, giving life not taking life, and that’s appropriate!

Oh reluctant one! Learn to accept what is so that you may be fully present in the moment and yet also fully open to all that unfolds. Otherwise, what is—life—is barely experienced. What unfolds is hardly noticed, each present moment so fleeting that it passes by without connection to its gifts, to its possibilities, to its newness. Without acceptance of what is, of the circumstances beyond control, of the truths that are, life has no meaning. And what is life without meaning? Perhaps the meaning lies in the unacceptable. Perhaps what has been so disregarded is the key to everything. Would that be acceptable? In this moment, can you accept that? It’s as good a place as any to start!

It is often said that moderation in all things is good. And yet how can life be lived in complete moderation when life itself is extreme? The ups an downs, the joys and sorrows must be experienced for life to be fulfilling. A life fulfilled is a life that has experienced everything, and yet there is wisdom in acting with awareness rather than unawareness, with consciousness rather than unconsciousness, with knowledge rather than lack of knowledge. There is wisdom in learning how to live to the fullest while also learning that true fulfillment comes in bearing the tension of all that life gives and all that life takes. Too much of a good thing can be as bad as too much of a bad thing. That which gives can also take. That which nurtures can also kill, but that which poisons can also heal in the right amounts. Let moderation take its rightful place, even as life unfolds at its rightful pace, bringing its extremes. A wise heart knows that where the heart leads, that’s the fulfilling path. Even in all of life’s extremes, the heart knows.
